When you first type ‘Velveteen Rabbit’ in your search engine of choice, you will probably notice a plethora of kid’s clothing stores and children’s novels appear. However, don’t be discouraged if you’re looking for the relatively new cocktail bar in Las Vegas with the same name.
Opened in 2013 by sisters Pamela and Christina Dylag; Velveteen Rabbit is a craft cocktail bar that calls the Las Vegas Arts District home. With eight offerings on the cocktail menu, a limited selection of wines, a dozen tap handles for craft beers, no food what-so-ever, and eclectic Victorian décor; Velveteen Rabbit is not for everyone. However, if you’re looking for a truly unique, off-strip, cocktail experience that even your taxi driver will probably not know about (nope, my taxi driver had no idea where Velveteen Rabbit was), you should check-out this spot.
Cocktails to Try:
Hopefully Velveteen Rabbit will continue to gain a following amongst Las Vegas tourists just as it has with the local community. In my opinion, the cocktails and hospitality (shout-out to Lyle at the bar) were definitely worth traveling ten minutes off-strip. Swamped after 9:30pm, come in around 8pm and you shouldn’t have a problem finding a seat at the bar.
